LEAD Connect

2020-2021 LEAD Connect project

My name is Easton Waller, and I am a Junior at LEAD. For my LEAD Connect project during the 2020-2021 school year, I have come up with a plan to build a butterfly garden here at LEAD. The garden will be a place of tranquility and relaxation. A place to come and admire our beautiful school, and the beautiful outdoors.

Throughout the years the Monarch butterfly population has decreased substantially. In 2019 there were about 30,000 Monarch butterflies in North America, however, only about 2,000 remain in North America today. Climate change, insecticides, and most of all, habitat loss, have been the cause for these despondent numbers. My mother has been a huge activist for the butterflies, and inspired me to do my part.
